re: Pump
Oct. 24th, 2008   2:58am
My son has been on the pump for 4 years, what is so good about it, is that is delivers the hydrocortisone to the EXACT amount you need, continuously and slowly following the circadian rhythm perfectly. Professor Peter Hindmarsh of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London devised this method, the rates are worked out to suit the person and programmed into the pump, so you do not have to touch it, just attach it and that is it. You change the fine PLASTIC cannula which is not painful to push in every 3 - 4 days.

The dose can be titrated down to the smallest amount and at any time of the day or night, which a tablet cannot do.  There is a bolus button so if you need extra, you press a button, it also has a remote control, so you can use this function with that.  It is set to deliver double and triple rates, which is very easy to switch to.  As you can read in the article, Rick mentions, it has changed my son's life and he has never felt so well or done so well since he started on the pump.

Amid, have you ever had a 24 hour blood profile to look at your control and fine tune your medication?
Kathy
