Hi Rick,

I have read your posts with interest on this.

Usually as someone gets older the fludro dose is reduced, not started although I know of people who are on varying doses.

Did they do your renin and aldosterone test both lying and standing?

If there is a noticeable difference in these results, it would show you need fludro.  My son stopped fludro for awhile and this is how they tested, to see if he could stay off it. The test needs to be done in a relaxed environment as I am sure you know.  Did they test by salt deprivation (you have to be on low salt diet for 7 days)? Did they test your urine to see how much salt you were passing? Were your electrolytes normal?

It does seem strange to suddenly need fludro at your age, having LOCAH and doing so well for so many years.
Are you having you b/p closely monitored now and again are they doing this lying and then taking a reading again quickly after standing? Did they do that before they started the fludro?

Sorry for all the questions, am interested to know because this is so unusual and because you have always been so well, just shows we are all different.

Kathy
