Dear Cathy:

It would be a good idea to check with the ped endo about LOCAH and salt wasting. Also check with this group www.caresfoundation.org which was started by a woman named Kelly Leight who has a daughter with LOCAH. Please ask to speak with Kelly as she has a wealth of knowledge and speaks directly with the best researchers about CAH.

To the other poster:

Maybe someone with more knowledge about Classical CAH can answer your question for sure, but I don't think every single classical female has ambiguous genetalia. You have to have the "simple virilizing" gene to have the ambiguous genetalia, but a lot of girls do.

My ambiguous external genitals came from the excess androgens.

I was born with Simple Virilizing CAH meaning I don't waste salt.

We have the gene defect on the last part of the endocrine pathway vs Salt wasters.

The excessive adrogens in utero isn't different for SWCAH or SVCAH.

The degree of virilization is a prader scale and most SWcah and SVcah aren't born to the degree of ambiuous genitals but rather just enlarged clitorises.

I'm confused as why you wrote   "You have to have the "simple virilizing" gene to have the ambiguous genetalia, but a lot of girls do."
