re: need advice please

Divorce is a hard thing. When I was 21 my parents divorced and I hate to say but I still feel the sting of their divorce today, 20 years later. BUT, I understand why they divorced and honestly wished that they split earlier then that. Because we grew up in a house that was stressed. My parents are awesome, but they fought a lot. I feel each one of me and my siblings picked up some bad marital habits from growing up within that bad marriage. So did it hurt when they divorced? It hurt like hell and today if I had one wish, besides my daughter not having CAH, it would be my parents were together. BUT, I understand it was for the best. If they had split earlier in their lives, they would have had a chance to find the love of their lives and perhaps we could have had a better example of what a good marriage could be. Instead they kept together for the kids, thinking they were sparing us. And in the long run, it hurt us more than saving us.

What can you do to make the separation easier on her? I don't know. Perhaps others can give their advice. Perhaps seek cousel. My mom did when she and my father split and it helped tremendously. SYour daughter is six. She will not understand the adult reasons why the two of you split. Nor should she at age six. She right now needs the love of each parent, 100 percent. There are books out there for kids to read about divorce and dealing with it also. But I would seek counsel for both of you to get through this. Stay strong. God bless.

Laura
