CARES Foundation advocacy partner, Save Babies, is planning to display a Save Babies Through Screening Unity quilt as part of series events celebrating NBS Awareness Month this September. This project was initially started in 2000 and has a wonderful effect on bringing real faces and stories about NBS to all that view them. They are always very touching and usually featured in local newspapers in the area of where they are displayed. If you who would like to remember/honor a family member or friend with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) who died because a state failed to screen for CAH or whose life was saved by NBS through quilting a panel, please let us know. Or if there is someone would like to share their story but they don't have the time to make a panel, Save Babies has volunteers that are willing to make one for them.
Information about the quilt panels as well as inspirational photos of ones that have already been submitted can be found at http://www.savebabies.org/awarenessprojects/quilt.php. If you or someone you know is interested in participating in this project, please contact me as indicated below. THANK YOU! It is through the efforts of the CAH Community across the nation that today we can say all 50 states offer Universal Newborn Screening for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH). Gretchen Alger Lin
