re: Gender dysphoria in the very young Jul. 19th, 2008 12:39am
Hi Peaches,
What Prader level was your daughter?
If your daughter was a three, four or five Prader level, I think we have to admit that there were a lot of androgens around at that time of her development in-utero. Do you think that there is an outside possibility or even a teensy weensy chance that her brain was masculinised during her foetal development?
She is very young and it maybe a 'passing phase' and hopefully so; but the reality is, she has CAH as a complicating factor, so it may equally be true that she feels 'male' and this feeling may never go away.
I think Diana's advice is very good. Yours, and the adults around her loving support are the most important at this point but if she is true to herself, she will eventually grow and develop into whoever she is, regardless of how anyone else feels or advises her.
