re: Gender dysphoria in the very young Jul. 18th, 2008 8:51am
While I have a SWCAH daughter who is most definantly a tomboy, we have not experienced what you are going through. I just wanted to say that I don't think that there are any easy answers in this situation, but believe you are wise to accept who your daughter is and to admit that you may need some outside help with this kind of situation.
As for families who have been through similiar situations, NPR recently did a mini-series on gender dysphoria in young children. It was quite remarkable what these families have been through and it was astounding how radically different the therapies for the two children were.
I wish your family the best of luck in dealing with things. By the by, daughter must be quite bright and articulate to express her feelings so well at such a young age!
