Marilyn,

I'm no help with your lab situation, but I can make a suggestion - have your doctor prescribe some EMLA cream for your son. It's a numbing cream that you put on where he gets his blood drawn. You put it on an hour to an hour and a half before the draw, cover it with a waterproof bandaid, and remove it right before the draw.

My daughter (20 months old) had to go for twice weekly draws for four weeks recently, and the cream worked wonders. If he knows it won't hurt (unless they have to poke him somewhere else!) it may help him relax, which may help the draw also.

Good luck!

Hanni
