re: Salt Intake for Infants
Jul. 4th, 2008   11:34am
My Endo said my daughter needed and extra 1/4 teaspoon of salt a day. I played with quite a few things before I figured out the easiest way to get her to take it. I ended up dissolving the 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 2 oz of pedialyte. My daughter doesn't seem to mind the taste (maybe because pedialyte is naturally a little salty). I simply give her a few squirts of the solution with a medicine dropper every 3 hours throughout the day to keep her balanced. Her blood work has always come back excellent. I think I use a 3ml medicine dropper and give her 4 of them every 3 hours until she takes her fludro and goes to bed. Hope this helps. I will keep doing this until she is on enough solids to get all her extra salt that way. I still salt her solid food just so she gets used to the flavor of the saltiness.
Best of luck!
Erin
