Hi DG -
There is help for people that don't have kids(I don't have kids) or single mothers but one has to talk to the right people or get the right people to understand. Have you talked with a Medical Social Worker at UCLA?
I was on a county assistance program for 2 years and went to the county health clinic for a Nurse Practioner who then would refer me to the Endo who was also contracted to help people without insurance from low income. This Endo was one of 2 that along with there practice were paid by the county/ county hospital system/ to help clinic patients with Diabetes, thyroid, and adrenal issues.
You have to explain with tax returns and the like what is happening with your situation as something that was once able to be paid for might not anymore and other options can be reviewed.
Ms. Kelly would be a wonderful advocate for you and I aslo believe that one of the CAH conferences were held in California. This is the Cares Foundation link www.caresfoundation.org and there contact number is on there.
It can get better.
