There's not much you can do for your child when they've been exposed to a virus like that. It's good that you have the shots on hand, and are comfortable if you need to use it (yeah ... I know .... "comfortable" is not the right word, but you know what I mean!)If my child has been exposed to something, I try to make sure she gets lots of sleep, and drinks lots - hopefully her body will fight against whatever virus is out there. I try to get enough sleep myself, in case we're spending a night in the ER, or a few nights in hospital. I always keep lots of Gatorade around (my daughter is almost 11 now); I like the Gatorade powder, because it keeps forever, and because I can add it to apple juice or flat gingerale, if I need to. Make sure you have all your meds/injectables and emergency letters for the hospital/doctor, where you know where they are.
If my daughter looks like she might be getting sick (and ESPECIALLY if my hubby happens to be out of town), I contact the amazing lady that babysits for us occasionally (a retired public health nurse!), and give her a heads up about possibly dropping my other child off in the middle of the night! As always, everyone in our family washes, washes, washes their hands .... always. And mostly, I pray like crazy! For protection for my daughter, and for peace and calm and trust for me!
I'll keep you both in my prayers.
