re: financial help getting meds May. 22nd, 2008 9:01am
Dear April, Last year, Florinef brand name was discontinued and there are two generic manufacturers in the US. Cortef is still made, but the FDA approved a generic 5 mg pill (10 and 20 mgs in generic have been on the market for a while). The problem with the generics is that none of the companies have Patient Assistance Programs (PAP), only the brands. So, Pfizer has a patient assistance program for Cortef and Solu-Cortef, but now there are no options for help for those who can't pay for the generic fludrocortisone (Florinef) or have trouble paying for generic hydrocortisone (although HC is very cheap, fludro is not so cheap).
