re: extra anxiety, and stress for my 16 year old daughter Oct. 12th, 2006 7:51am
Hi, I have a 17yo daughter who has all the symptoms of LOCAH, although when she was tested, her 17 ohp didn't surge high enough for the diagnosis of LOCAH. She also has very light periods, as you mentioned about your daughter. From what I've read, this is indicative of low estrogen, which is typical of LOCAH (unless you also have PCOS). Her gyno put her on Yasmin, which is a bcp and also has an anti-androgen in it, for irregular periods. Her mood definately brightened when she started Yasmin, which I believe is because it puts her on a better level of estrogen, and I can really tell the difference during the week she is on the sugar pills. She also takes 2 mg of prednisone in the a.m. prescribed by another dr, which finally dropped her testosterone level into the normal range.
Her main problem now is fatigue; she struggles to get her school work done because she's so tired. She crashes out at 10:30 at night, gets up at 6, so she's getting a decent amount of sleep, and sleeps in until noon usually on the weekend. If she tries to stay up late to study, she physically can't do it, and her brain is mush anyway. And yes, she has always tended to get over stressed.
