re: Stress dosing for small operation
Oct. 9th, 2006   9:52pm

My endo hadn't told me about stress-dosing (or if she did I wasn't paying attention) and I assumed it wasn't necessary with LOCAH. I had several surgeries including a three major surgeries without stress-dosing and I was OK. Then I got the flu and didn't stress dose and almost died. Now I wouldn't even consider NOT stress-dosing for surgery. (I also get my flu shot every year now.) People with LOCAH CAN have crises, although it's not as common as it is with those who have SWCAH or SVCAH.

Now I also think that it doesn't hurt us to stress-dose, so why not do something simple that's going to reduce our risk of a crisis?

I think Aimee is right - you really should talk to your endo about what specifically is necessary.

Karen
