Dear Amy,
I have Simple- Vivilizing CAH and I hope that it OK to respond to your post.
Withing the last two years, I've been under anthesthia 8 times.
The endo or GP that is managing your LOCAH is the person that should consult with team that is doing your operation and writes the orders. Which for example may go like this - 100mgs Solu medrol through IV while being prepped for surgery-100mgs Solu medrol during surgery-100mgs after surgery. Again, this is just an example and each case is different.
I call my endo's Office - Dr. The Big Mac : P and explain that I'm having this surgery done on this date with Dr. I'm a Good Guy @ Hospital or/Surgery Suite Saint Get Better and what do I need in way of a stress dose? I'm going out on a limb here but don't get mad if the lady at the front desk has no idea what you mean because they really don't know about CAH and that is OK - just as long as he gets the message. Or have the Doc doing the surgery call him/her.
On the day of the surgery the anathesthologist will take with you for a bit before you go off to dream land. I'm 36 and have been through this about 15 times during my whole life with 4 times since Jan of 2006.
I hope in some way this post helped you and I will not tell anyone not to fret because to me the energy of fretting will help you power through this experience and then if there is a next time then it will be easier to cope with.
I could write more but I'll stop and I hope this was written in a manner that was OK.
take care,
Aimee
