This is WHY I chose to have the surgery for my Granddaughter. The advantage of being the grandmother is that I have raised children before and I KNOW how cruel and insensitive some children can be to there peers. Mitzi is only five and has a huge scar on her leg from surgery from compartment syndrome......... she does not want to wear dresses or shorts because she says every one looks at her scar. If she picks up on this at five I can't imagine how she will feel at 15. My feelings were to release her from as much trauma and negative feedback about ANY part of her body as possible. The best gift you can give your child is a healthy sense of self esteem and plenty of self confidence. These are the attributes that will form WHO you are and how well you excel in life. It is a tough decision for any parent to make , but if it is done to protect you child...how can it be wrong? Just my opinion and I hope this helps!
