Yea, actual responses! interesting points and good to stress besides the medical sophistication but also the views depending where you are on the prader scale in meaning that someone higher on the prader scale someone would automicatically externally be seen as male right from the start and continue with the viriliaztion. Being darn cute just the same : ) but can where others based on virilization degree would really be in an intersex state without the medical intervention.
So, intersex state as a possibility in a less developed country or even in our country with lack of knowledge but certainly not lack of effort or interest by the doctor may produce an intersex state also and even to some degree qualified doctors don't have all the answers but are always learning to improve : ) I had no percoius(sp ?) puberty and was stumped when an endo down here assumed that did. I also even with treament way back reached according to a mathimatical caculation using my father height, the height I was meant to be. Any excessive hair did go away eventually , bad acne like many with out CAH but only for two years and the excessive weight was because of an endocrine fellow and 20 mg of prednisone but live and learn.
Should of asked what do you all think of the word intersex as it is used in the industrialized countries?
Do you find the ISNA represents CAH as it is in America today?
Do you see intersex as an idenitity ? or intersex as just a possible medical inconvenience of some women with CAH and others with different medical conditions?
Do you like the word intersex better? hermaphrodite better or pseudo -hermaphrodite better? do you think any of these words are necessary except in reference to physical characteristics from the adrenal that may happen to someone with CAH mostly in less developed nations.
Would you say intersex as an identity or medical symptoms? and should that include ones that aren't considered to have intersex conditions if you do?
Does theIntersex Society of North America in your opinions give a complete picture of what CAH really is? Should it?
Surgery in your opinions? early or wait?
Better to use word intersex in the medical description of possibility of what may decribe a specific medical occurence that is or has the possibility of being treated ?
My friends are more ethnically hairy than me. So would they be considered intersex people?
If you would like to share ?what other Endo conditions does anyone have?
Why is it the word intersex that only happens to some with CAH and not the actual adrenal gland condition front and center?
CAH? more in line with the other endocrine conditions or intersex and/or GBLT?
Where does the adrenal crisis fit with all this?
Comfortable that the ISNA is going into medical schools talking with and giving info to students? yes? no?
thanks,
Aimee
