Dear Lisa,

I'm just someone on the Internet really just ones and zeros : )   I'm not a parent and have no idea about being one. Based on what I read in that magazine article and your posts It's the right choice for you and your child : ) My parents and the surgeon/ institution probly would of made the same choice given the advancment of medicine. I'm proud of my parents this must of been a hard for them and you know they picked me/ adopted me also at 8months out of  social services for adoption. Surgery at 5 before school was brilliant by them  : ) the  surgeon trained by Harvard and the best he could do at that time period was a clitorectomy? that sucks  but the vaginoplasty worked really well and the blockage wheww that healed . I look back at the records, the psych report and urology both stated that i could waited but that was me and your daughter might be different. I wonder about school but the only people that spent time viewing and having their hands in my genitals were the Endo and all the med students, I'm screwed up from that and no amount of theraphy, medication, or alchohol abuse will ever change that.  It wasn't being born with genitals that didn't fit the norm but rather all the focus from the good doctors that wanted to learn and from the one resident that they give you when you are older as some sort of bonding experience or whatever butthat woman under the call of the head Endo put me on way to much prednisone.

If you feel your doing right by your kid and she isn't in emotional or physical pain then what does this tell you? There are other parents out there waiting a bit just like there are ones going for the surgery now.

Blame a parent for something they tried to do their best in? Oh gosh no! really that is no fun and not playing fair because so many other things you could blame them for if that was the way you wanted to be in life.

It's all the thyroids fault anyway and the adrenal gland is innocent.

Aimee
