It's been pointed out that not everyone with CAH fits any definition of intersex and that in itself is something right there. I've written to the ISNA three times and never received a reply back. They've linked to this web site also.
My endo uses the word 11-hydroxylase deficiency but that doesn't sound as exciting for a lecture, book, or article. That woman from the ISNA lectures at medical schools about intersex this or that and the scary thing is the medical part going to be lost on the audience members?
a smooth running adrenal gland means something to me and having something better than cortisol ....wow that would be a delight.
I'm having a blond moment about this but all women w/ CAH can give birth to their spouses children unless for other reasons and that is also why the word intersex doesn't make that much sense to me. My medical records state female pseudo hermaphrodite and then a couple of pages latter it stated that I was definitely female because of the testing that was done----ultrasound, a dye test, a smear test and chromosome testing plus it they weren't sure if I had salt-wasting CAH or Simple -Virilizing. The records go on that they were hoping for true hermaphrodite because it seems like disappointment that I wasn't but the records go on that the was just CAH and send her to Doctor So and So at Henry Ford because he's had numerous experiences w/ these cases and mind you this was 1970. What a wild ride for people with CAH and the future looks even better.
I think with respect though that all these "intersex" conditions are being pimped to boost causes for people that don't have any medical conditions and any medical advancement to better our lives suffer because of that.
