Thank you everyone for posting....Betsy, Cherry, Martha, and Natalie.  I appreciate you all sharing your thoughts and experiences and have looked at many of the sites you've suggested...in the past and again recently. 

I think everyone appoaches this subject with passion and a pure heart---no matter which side of the "debate"---they are on.  I am just trying to get a better sense of what is fact, versus opinion, conjecture, and assumption.  I do believe everyone tries to tell the truth as they see it. 

Betsy, I don't mean to ignore your other comments and questions.... just don't have the time right now, but I will come back to them!
