re: re: re: re: New vs. old techniques of surgery

Check the website at Cornell under pediatric urology. Dr. Dix Poppas did our daughters surgeries and we have been quite pleased with the results. Mind you she was a baby on the first one and we didnt have a lot of choice on weather or not to do surgery as it was functionally needed. The other surgeries were functional as well as cosmetic so she could actually use her vagina when needed. For example, to open the vaginal canal and allow blood flow or intercourse, removing old scar tissue...
All of us are built differently and the same goes with the degree to which cah girls are verilized, intersexed, whatever the heck people want to call it. Our 46XX daughter is almost 12 now and can explain very well what it feels like the have urine pooling in the vagina and have it leak all over her when she moves about, she can explain to us she doesnt like spraying urine on her rear end when she pees, she can also explain to us what the pain of a urinary tract or bladder infection feels like. And last but not least by any means is she can explain to us that her clitoris has feeling, is sensitive to touch and sometimes it feels good, I am assuming she means has a good blood flow. I believe she knows her body well and has told us several times that she is happy we have gone the route we have with surgeries and wants to be able to enjoy her husband someday and have babies. She thinks that even if all the surgeries in the world couldnt stop all the problems she had with her body it would have still been worth trying for a good outcome. Those of you considering surgery weather functional or cosmetic and worrying what your child will think of you for making the choices for them, remember you are the parent and its your job to make decisions for them. Why wait until they are older and let them suffer (i know some are not suffering, our has) until they are old enough to decide. If you were one whose parents made a poor decision and had things chopped off before advancements in medicine were made then you have the right to be upset but I encourage people to make their own decisions.
