Correction...it is not accurate to say that the clitoris is connected to the vagina. They are generally separate structures. However, they do develop in parallel, from what I can tell. So, the more virilized one is on the exterior, the more likely you are to have problems on the inside. In that way, I don't think it's quite as simple as saying it's all cosmetic.
