Im a 31 year old male who was raised since 1977 by Dr. Lacy at Stepping Hill until he died and owe my life and the great way I turned out to be to that guy, he nailed my doseage perfectly but was so dedicated to CAH and his research and Ive never met anyone like him since.
After he died I was bounced about from one doc to the next none of whom seemed to take much of an interest or showed anywhere near as much of an understanding of the condition as Dr. Lacy did and finally I landed with Dr.Selby at Manchester Royal. Ive been with him for about 4 years and honestly I cant say all that much for him. I see him once a year for a meeting that last about 10 minutes at most, a quick blood test and thats it. Does this sound right? Does everyone else have this kind of meeting or do you tend to have a little more testing done. I know as a child I had all sorts tested, bone desensity etc, but none of this as an adult.
I was switced to Pred by Dr. Selbys offering as I continually forget to take my Cortisone in the afternoon but was never told of the effects of taking prednisolone over long periods. I take 4 in the morn and 2 at night, dunno if this is high enough to start to have lasting bad effects or not? Anyone else think this is high or does this sound about right for CAH? Owing to the fact Ive never had any problems in life I presumed everything is just ok but reading about the condition more as Ive got older has made me think if I should switch back to what I used to take.
You mention Dr. Ray at Mancheter Royal.. Can you please tell me his full name I want to look at perhaps getting transfered to him, he sounds good!
