Hi Lorraine
Steroids are pretty powerful and the change from dex to pred could be responsible for your daughter feeling rough. Some people are more sensitive to the change than others though. I know that some patients are advised to change gradually from one steroid to another (half and half for a while) but this is not always necessary. I do feel it probably is just going to take a little time for your daughters body to adjust but if she continues to feel unwell for much longer, I do think you should consider contacting her consultant to let him/her know the situation and ask for advice. It may also take a while for them to work out the right dose of prednisolone required and how it should be split to suit her best. For instance, if she is taking the pred twice a day, her inability to sleep could be because she is taking too high a dose in the evening. Headaches can also be caused through deficiency of cortisol at certain times of the day, so timing needs to be looked at too. Try and keep a record to see if there is a pattern (i.e. do her headaches or nausea occur around the same time each day or are they continuous?).
I hope she feels better soon but please don't let her suffer in silence, let her endo know how she is feeling.
