Have you tried adding the dosage of sodium chloride to his feed? Perhaps not to all the feed in case he doesn't eat it all but to enough of his food that you know he will eat and then once all that has been eaten, you can give the rest of the food to him? At least then you would know all the sodium dosage has been taken? Just a suggestion.
I can't comment on the steroids for a second pregnancy as I didn't choose to take them but we did choose to have a second child as we always wanted more than one child and you are right, things do get easier and also you learn to recognise signs when your child isn't well. I think the steroids for pregnancy is a personal choice. There have been previous posts here about it which perhaps you could find in the archives. Try and research and read up about it because if you decide to take the dex I believe you have to take it early on in pregnancy. Good luck!
