Hi Barbara

I have an 8 year old SWCAH daughter.  When she was a baby we applied for a Health Care Card for her and got one without any trouble at all.  They send us forms every couple of years to be signed by her doctor so that the card is renewed.  I have heard of people having trouble getting the financial assistance but not the Health Care Card.   Phone Centrelink and explain that you want to apply for JUST the Health Care Card and not the carer's allowance (unless you want to try for both again).   The Health Care Card is a great help with the cost of meds ($5.00 each) and we are bulk-billed for her xrays as well.

Good luck, I know Centrelink are not easy to deal with and it seems that each time you ring and get a different person, they give you different information.   Very frustrating.

Jenni
