re: am i the only one to have dramas with centre link/ carers allowance?
Jan. 5th, 2008   8:12am

We get the health care card for our CAH daughter.  I know of one person in WA that gets the carer's allowance but don't know of anyone else that has been successful.  I have not even contemplated applying for a carer's allowance as I don't believe that I should be entitled to one.  In all honesty, our CAH daughter does not take much more looking after than our other two non CAH children.  Yes she does needs medication 3 times a day and we do have to keep a closer eye on her when she is unwell, but it just fits into our daily life and she's treated not much different to her two sisters.   Even though I don't have a child with diabetes, I do have two close friends with diabetes children and I would have to say that CAH is hassle free and very easy to manage compared to diabetes.  Diabetes is much harder to manage on a daily basis.   I'm sure you will find it very hard to get the carer's allowance.
