re: re: Travel overseas to countries like Bali, anyone done with CAH kids? Sep. 5th, 2007 11:25am
Hi. We just got back from Thailand and Malaysia with out three kids. Our middle child Hallie who is 4 has CAH. We had letters from doctor saying we needed to carry meds, syringes etc so we could get through airport. I was a bit worried about flying into Malaysia but even though they picked up the meds and needles on their screening machine no questions asked. I carried Florinef, Hysone, Solu-cortef with accompanying syringes, sterile swabs etc in a cooler bag because it is so hot there. Before we went, I got the doctor to show me how to prepare and inject solu-cortef into Hallie's leg if she went into adrenal crisis and we weren't near a hospital. Carried general meds like panadol too and also hydralite - those electrolyte iceblocks. We went for two wks and Hallie did not get sick once. It was a great experience. Oh and we only ever drank bottled water and ate out of reputable restaurants - not off teh street or at the markets.
