Toddler waking up very flat?
Jul. 26th, 2006   2:36am

Hi, had a bit of a scare the other day. My 20 month old (SWCAH) slept a bit later than usual. Normally she is up between 6.30-7am and has meds as soon as she gets up. She also bounces out of bed happy and ready to start the day.

She was still asleep at 7.30am so I went in to check on her. I ended up waking her at 7.45am as I was concerned she needed her meds. She was extremely drousy and lethargic and guzzled her milk and kept falling asleep in my lap (very unusual). She seemed very thirsty so I gave her some gatorade and double dosed her, got a bit more worried and triple dosed her. Within about an hour or so she bounced back and seemed normal albeit a bit quieter than usual. I double dosed her afternoon meds and by then she was completely back to normal.

I can't put my finger on what set this off? Normally something has to happen for her to go into crisis. She had a bit of a runny nose but nothing else. She did seem a little sweatier than normal when I picked her up out of her cot. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it possible she has had a fever overnight?
