Hi Michelina
I have two children with C.A.H and neither of them seem to suffer from hypoglycaemia, however, C.A.H children apparently are more prone to hypoglycaemia. The advise I get from my health professionals when my children are sick is to keep their fluids up and sugar intake.
I am a member of the Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Support Group Australia Inc. and if you are not I would really recommend you should join as there are articles about these topics each quarter from various specialists nationally and internationally. I have found it's given me alot more confidence in dealing with C.A.H and obtained well-rounded information that I then discuss with my children's Endocrinologist at each appointment.
You can contact the CAHSGA on 03 9513 9255 or email me on lindapowell@optusnet.com.au
There is also a book from Serono Pharmaceuticals about dealing with emergency situations for adrenal crisis' and it has a school page you can take to your school outlining the procedures when our children say they aren't well. Alternatively you can laminate a page with procedures on it and give to your child's teacher about the steps to take along with some sugary drinks etc.
Regards
Linda
