Our daughter also takes HYSONE 4. We have recently moved from Katherine down to Canberra. The medicine in Canberra is exactly the same.
I would think that if the medicine was not effective it would show in blood tests. While we were in Katherine we were also under the direction of Dr Thomsett. From my experience with him, I am sure he would be able to diagnose incorrect medication.
This time last year our daughter was on the wrong medication. I posted the full story on this board. The pharmacist gave us the wrong medicine, it was another type of steroid. It took us a month to realise something was wrong. She was eating voraciously and always in a bad temper. It took about a week to return to normal. Our doctor explained that our daughter went through a similar ordeal that a bodybuilder does when they have a steroid overdose and are capable of terrible crimes.
The lesson we learnt was be very careful with medication and always looks for clues in your childs behaviour.
