40 year old male with SWCAH
Feb. 19th, 2010   4:02am
Greetings to all,

Not sleeping well tonight, sought out CAH message board, off work tomorrow anyway, so thought I would chime in.

My name is Kevin, I live in Chicago and have SWCAH.

I was diagnosed at 2 weeks old, was very ill early on, I became stable with treatment and have not had an adrenal crisis ever, had veered of the desired numbers range at times, but not for long.

I was fortunate to have great medical care and saw ped. endos every four to six months until I was 17yrs. My parents made many sacrifices to see that I had great care at Baylor/Texas Children's in Houston, TX, even when my father was without work and no insurance.

However that doesn't mean it has been a cakewalk having SWCAH.

At one time in my very early 20's I was on Decatron and lacked favorable results. Was removed soon after.

I am currently taking .05mg Florinef and 5mg of Prednisone working to get that down to possibly 2.5 mgs in the next few years.

I just wanted to share this with the "board".

If any of you wish to respond, please do.

Thanks and take care.
